You have control over your life. The key to everyday being the best day of the rest of your life is unlocking, identifying and trusting your own intuition. That’s it. You might think of this as your gut feeling, your instincts, your inner compass, blah blah blah. It’s all the same and is applicable to everyone.
Spoiler alert, no one is coming to save you from your shitty life. You know who your superhero is, it’s you. You already have the best fucking super hero power in the world, your own inner judgement.
The super secret steps to following your intuition:
1. quiet your mind and get in touch with your body
2. go in the flow of the moment and listen inward
3. do what you felt was the thing you needed to do (or not do)
But Jen you say, that sounds like some new age hippy bullshit.
And I’d say, the fuck it is.
Sometimes our intuition shouts at us and we hear it, just not enough. Like the feeling that maybe you should take a different way home and find out later a huge accident occurred the normal way you drive. Or whispers to go talk to that person at a party and you end up with a new dream job out of nowhere. Or you almost leave the house and decide to bring your raincoat and indeed with no rain in the forecast it downpours later. These are all intuition.
Examples of intuition from my life lately
(normal ones, not hippy bullshit ones)
-Read an email I’ve been skipping for weeks and was alerted to a deadline (that day) that was imperative for me.
-Called someone for a task I wasn’t supposed to be doing that I wasn’t planning on talking to and ended up with a new business idea (combined with an extra project I decided to help on that I felt I needed to do despite the subject matter itself not being my bag)
If you want to dive into the metaphysical, flowing with the energy of the now examples, I can give a lot more — most of them discrete instances that led to me finding another one of my puzzle pieces on my indiana jones galactic journey
• driven to get a consultation with an online youtube tarot reader (even though it was a lot of money for me at the time) to find out I had a negative entity attachment I picked up through my lack of knowledge in some of my explorations
• conversations with people that add puzzle pieces from tangential conversations
• watching a youtube video interview that led me to better health decisions
• using it for anything energetic — I like to say I am enthusiastically winging it.
⁃ How do I ground? I just do what feels right.
⁃ How did I lay out my crystal grid? googled shapes and then basically ordered what felt right/arranged it a certain way
• I make up new visualizations I make up for “fixing” things I feel that seem unbalanced or blocked within me.
One action leads to a cascade of other actions and realizations and it just goes on and on and on. But we can ALL do this. That’s my point.
Let go of what you know you can’t do and just open up to the possibility that anything is possible. Let go of your expectations about how it works for other people or what you’ve heard or how you’re supposed to meditate blah blah blah.
Like anything else, this is developed to varying degrees and manifests in different ways for different people. I gave you some examples but I’ll try and describe how it feels/works for me. I’m still pretty new at consciously tuning in although I’m certain my intuition has saved my bacon more than once without me even realizing it.
Very conceptually, I think of being in a constant state of intuition as being in the flow, you’re not consciously charting a course, just doing what comes naturally (eg flowing with the river). For me this feels like I am absolutely present in whatever task, thought, aspect I am doing something in. And intuitive nudges from myself sort of feel like a cue to follow the fork in the river. Like a gentle nudge of my canoe, quiet, relaxed, balanced. Whereas if I ignore it or miss is, it can be gently insistent, and if I miss it altogether, it’s a bit like taking a branch which suddenly I need to paddle up stream and there’s also rapids and I’m off centered and working too hard and things don’t feel right.
Your sense of balance is directly connected to your intuition.
By balance I mean any number of things, your balance between physical and mental, emotions, internal and external, work and family, time for you and time for others, your health. What happens is for most of us we get so out of balance we can’t hear our intuition. The feedback responses from our body and mind are overshadowing the subtleties of our intuition, as well as busy minds and all the forms we use to escape our realities.
So how do you hear your intuition ? I’d start with just a couple of minutes of trying to quiet your mind if you’re not currently meditating or going through cognitive behavioral therapy or something of that sort. Just sit (or stand) outside, barefoot for two minutes.
How do you trust it? Slowly. Start with small things. Write them down. And see what happens. Maybe your voice whispers, try something new for dinner tonight go to the ethnic grocery store. Or leave ten minutes early today for work.
And then you’ll start hearing it more. And louder. And your trust will increase.
